Under the big golden M

It has almost been a week since I came back from my holiday and it has been a shock to go right back into work. A rude awakening at 5 in the morning. But I managed and on Friday it was straight into the care plan and visiting friends and family.

While doing that I got a message that us being so close now if we could meet for coffee, well, I thought before I drive home for the weekend that wouldn’t hurt. So we agreed on meeting at the local MC Donald’s. I arrived on time grabbed a coffee, and spotted a mouse running through the place. So after alarming the staff of the little rodent I settled in my booth with a newspaper and waiting for my “date”.  When the time passed where we should have met I checked my phone to see where he was or if he even was on his way. Turned out that he was in the other local Mac. I decided that he should join me as he has given me the run around all day and I was not in the mood to travel through town. Finally he showed up and he turned out to be even nicer as he has been over the past few weeks online. My plan was to stay for one hour and then move north and go home to start my weekend. Man was I wrong in that assumption. We laughed and chatted and truly hit it off, so good that the staff asked us to leave as we were the only remaining customers after closing. We were far from finishing our chat so we moved to the other Mac, which according to his story was still open, and only a 5 min drive away.

It had start to rain when we walked to our cars; we got in and drove to our new chat location. Once we parked our cars outside we noticed that this one was closing as well and we could only get a coffee at the drive through. So we did, we sat in my car, having coffee and continued the conversation. It was pleasant, we took little steps to get to know each other, he is an easy guy to talk too and not the average guy asking the “standard” questions when two man meet up. The rain was hitting the roof and we talked for hours until we both decided it was time to go home, it sure was at 3 in the morning, and I still had to drive over an hour to get home.

The situations almost dictated a quick peck on the cheek and then meet some other time to get to know each other more. As we had sorted that we would not start a relationship based on our night in front of a fast-food shop. So we moved in to kiss goodbye and then the peck became something very much more. It took way more time than a quick goodbye and the both of us didn’t seem to want to stop. We finally did, he got out of the car and we both expressed the wish to see each other again soon.

So there I was driving home after an amazing holiday and a spontaneous date to start a weekend where I just wanted to lay back and relax. This was a funny summer. Something has changed and suddenly I am meeting new friends, and “special” friends. Whereas I normally would probably rush into fast track dating in the hope to get into a relationship I am more happy to now be on a course to just see what happens when the time is ripe and there.

The rhythm I am in now is a pleasing one and I do notice that I sleep better at night, somewhere somehow some tension disappeared. And for sure I am not going to look for that thing as I am happy where I am now.

Back at work and slowly getting back into the all-day routine. And counting down the hours until I am back in Spain. The ticket is in my mailbox and I am ready to pack and leave again. But unfortunately 13 weeks have to pass until I am on my flight south again. But that’s fine, I know it’s going to happen, it is paid for!!

As for my date, who knows, another night in front of a big M or something more, we will see, life has so much to offer at the moment, let’s take one step at a time. It’s fast food not fast love!
